If I were the director of the World Health Organization, I would make it a requirement for all babies to get the chicken pox vaccine once they are born. Since the chicken pox vaccine is very effective, I presume this would dramatically reduce the number of chicken pox cases, if not completely diminish the number of cases. There is a possibility that many people may not be able to afford the vaccine, so I would also make it free.
There are a lot of babies born everyday, so I would need to make sure that we have enough vaccines. Even if we don't have enough vaccines at the time, parents could just wait until the 4-6 week check up to get their child vaccinated, allowing time for additional vaccines to be produced. Many babies and children are already being vaccinated, so it wouldn't be a huge change.
I think this would make the biggest impact on fighting this disease, not only in the U.S., but in other parts of the world as well.
